Under the Volcano

Selection

Marc Quinn

2012 has seen Marc Quinn exhibit in Denmark, Salzburg and in Moscow while the 43ft-high version of his marble 'Alison Lapper Pregnant' was the spectacular centrepiece of the London 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony.

His work in a wide range of sometimes challenging media often captures the moment that objects and figures pass from the naturalistic to the iconic and monumental – exampled by Marble prints of disabled athletes referencing the heroic figures of antiquity, and his flower pieces artificially preserved at the very moment of bloom in intense colour. Sphinx, a 2012 print derived from an original sculpture, captures the metamorphosis of a beautiful woman into something like a timeless Hindu deity.

What they’re saying about Manifold Editions:

“With new online art gallery Manifold Editions, you won’t need a fortune to hang your walls with a few leading YBAs… the whole process is transparent, accessible and easy. You can buy what you think will look good on your walls, not what you think will treble in price if the artist gets picked for the Biennale…Quality is the key here, and Booth-Clibborn has the background to provide it… "

“Low prices for high-ranking artists”

 – The Evening Standard

"James Booth-Clibborn launched his gem of an e-gallery last summer in response to repeated demands from friends and colleagues for an easy, accessible route to buying limited-edition works by well-known artists…These friends and colleagues – not to mention gallery-shy art lovers around the world – must be delighted, because manifoldeditions.com does everything they wished for…

What they’re saying about Manifold Editions:

“Low prices for high-ranking artists”

– The Evening Standard, 21 October 2011, reporting on Manifold Editions at the Affordable Art Fair, Oct 18–20, Battersea Park

“With new online art gallery Manifold Editions, you won’t need a fortune to hang your walls with a few leading YBAs… the whole process is transparent, accessible and easy. You can buy what you think will look good on your walls, not what you think will treble in price if the artist gets picked for the Biennale…

Quality is the key here, and Booth-Clibborn
has the background to provide it… Booth-Clibborn is planning to open a pop-up store in London next spring (New York and Kolo pop-ups are in the works.)”
