Anish Kapoor
Sir Anish Kapoor CBE RA (b. India, 1954) is one of the most influential conceptual artists working today, known for his monumental sculptural installations. Established in London since the early 1970s, Kapoor studied first at the Hornsey College of Art and later at the Chelsea School of Art and Design, both UK. Winner of the 1991 Turner Prize, Kapoor’s work can now be found worldwide in galleries and public spaces, a notable example being his stainless-steel work Cloud Gate (2006) (otherwise known as “The Bean”) in Chicago. In 2013 Kapoor received a knighthood for services to the visual arts. Kapoor’s major institutional exhibitions include those at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK (2009), Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain (2010), Arken Museum of Modern Art, Denmark (2024-25) and Hayward Gallery, London, UK (2026).
