Christopher Le Brun
Christopher Le Brun PRA (born 1951 in Portsmouth, UK) studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London from 1970–74 and at Chelsea School of Art from 1974–75. Following many exhibitions through the 1980s he was elected to the Royal Academy, London, in 1996. His intricate naturalistic etchings of rural subjects recall precursors from Samuel Palmer to Goya and the old masters, while more recently his print work has offered notably elegant and painterly abstract colour subjects. Since 2011 he has been President of the Royal Academy of Arts, London, representing British art and artists to a world audience. In 2017 he had back-to-back solo shows in New York and Miami and a group show, ‘5 British Artists,’ at Galerie Maximillian in Aspen, Colorado.
