Archival pigment print with varnish

Home / glossary / Archival pigment print with varnish

A print process in which a sophisticated inkjet printer is used to print an image, using fine-grained pigment inks (rather than dye). Piezoelectric technology forces ink through microscopic holes. The ink droplets are then electrostatically steered onto the surface of the paper. The result is a high-quality, high-definition archival print.

This print has been finished with a varnish applied to specific areas using a brush, recalling the original technique of the painted portrait by the artist.
