Screenprint

Home / glossary / Screenprint

Also known as silkscreen, a design is transferred onto a mesh ‘screen’, which is stretched over a frame. The design acts like a stencil, blocking out specific areas of the screen. A squeegee is then used to force ink through the mesh, transferring the ink onto a sheet of paper below through the permeable areas in the design. The image is printed one colour at a time and demands careful registration.
