Following many exhibitions through the 1980s he was elected to London’s Royal Academy in 1996. His former intricate etchings of rural subjects have given way to a new interest in colour and abstraction. From 2011–19 Le Brun was President of the Royal Academy of Arts, London, representing British art and artists to a world audience. His work is included in notable collections including the Tate collection, London, MoMA, New York, and Yale Center for British Art, CT, USA. In 2019 he had his first exhibition in China at the Lisson Gallery, Shanghai.

Ofili came to prominence in the early 1990s with richly orchestrated paintings combining rippling dots of paint, drifts of glitter, collaged images and controversially incorporating elephant dung, a bricolage reflecting a particular sensitivity to wider African themes arising from his Nigerian heritage. He won the Turner Prize in 1998. For nearly three decades Ofili has regularly exhibited at major institutions, including Tate Britain, London (2010), the New Museum in New York (2014), and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Cape Town, RSA (opened 2017). Recent commissions include a tapestry for the National Gallery, London (2017); a site-specific mural for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago (2017), and an installation for the new Institute of Contemporary Art building in Miami (2019).
- [Grayson Perry](https://www.manifoldeditions.com/./grayson-perry/) - Sir Grayson Perry RA (b. 1960) graduated from Portsmouth Polytechnic, UK, in 1982 with a BA in Fine Arts, soon establishing himself as a ceramicist, creating vase forms inlaid with a highly autobiographical narrative of colourful imagery and forthright observations on art and society, often incorporating his cross-dressing alter ego “Claire”. His career has encompassed a wide range of arts and arts-related activities and media, from tapestries and installations to publishing and broadcasting. In 2003 he was awarded the Turner Prize. Since then he has published two autobiographies, a graphic novel, and a book about art for the general reader, Playing to the Gallery (2016). Perry has had solo exhibitions in Amsterdam, London, Bristol, Pittsburgh, and Japan. In early 2020 Perry’s early ceramics were displayed in Grayson Perry: The Pre-Therapy Years at the Holburne Museum, UK. The artist’s most recent exhibition is titled Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur at The Wallace Collection, London, UK (2025).
- [Boo Saville](https://www.manifoldeditions.com/./boo-saville/) - Boo Saville (b. 1980) is an artist whose painstakingly detailed ink drawings and paintings on canvas encompass two different styles of working – monochromatic depictions of life and highly pigmented abstraction. Since graduating from the Slade School of Art, London, in 2004, Saville has seen her work included in major private and museum collections both in the UK and internationally, including the Museum of Old and New Art (Tasmania), the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Soho House Group, Collezione Maramotti and Murderme. Twice nominated for the Sovereign Painting Prize (2007 and 2011) she undertook a residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris in 2008. In 2010, Saville worked with art publishers Other Criteria, founded by Damien Hirst, to publish Ghost, a set of unique prints. In 2018, her paintings were exhibited at Newport Street Gallery as part of a group show, True Colours. Recent solo exhibitions include The Smoke Detector and the Watchtower at Davidson Gallery, New York (2021-22), Ma at TJ Boulting gallery, London (2022), and Best Self, curated by Polly Morgan, at Brooke Bennington, London (2025). Saville’s work was recently included in the prestigious 3rd edition of The Anomie Review of Contemporary British Painting. She lives and works in Kent, UK.
- [George Shaw](https://www.manifoldeditions.com/./george-shaw/) - George Shaw (b. 1966) studied at Sheffield Polytechnic, UK, and later at the Royal College of Art, London, UK, where Peter Doig was one of his tutors. He is noted for his depictions of English suburban subject matter. Shaw became known to a wider public through a major retrospective at the Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art, Gateshead, in 2011, the year he was also nominated for the Turner Prize. Beginning in 2014, Shaw’s two-year stint as National Gallery artist in residence produced a key 2016 solo exhibition, My Back to Nature, which went on to be shown at a number of UK venues over the next 18 months. In 2018, Shaw had his first major solo exhibition in the US, A Corner of a Foreign Field, at Yale Center for British Art, Princeton, NJ; the exhibition subsequently travelled to the Holburne Museum in Bath, UK (2019).

Parr’s richly coloured and detailed images offer an unsparing but far from unsympathetic view of his subjects: in his own words, “I make serious photographs disguised as entertainment”. At the heart of his work is a tension between appearance and a deeper context which is deliberately unemphasised, but “If you want to read it you can read it”. He studied at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where his notorious 1991 MA exhibition, consisting of a whitewashed studio space containing a blue heritage plaque, stating “Gavin Turk worked here, 1989–1991”, led to him being refused a degree. Turk rose to prominence in the early 1990s as a member of the Young British Artist’s group, alongside Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas. His work continues to be exhibited internationally in New York, Hong Kong, London, Venice and Basel, to name a few. The artist’s works are held in a number of major collections, including the Tate Gallery in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Turks and Caicos) is an American artist whose style of painting is rooted in his early days as a graffiti artist in New York and his career as a graphic designer. Theodore’s large-scale murals can be found on the streets of New York City, Tokyo, Paris and Milan, depicting cultural icons, such as David Bowie, Kate Moss and Anna Wintour. Theodore’s vibrant, expressive portraits typically reveal the subject’s skeleton beneath; something which the artist refers to as “an act of living”, intended to confront the viewer with art-historical themes of mortality, memory and celebrity. He is particularly interested in addressing the complexity of blackness and race through material and theoretical perspectives and has coordinated a variety of practices under the term ‘Black Dada,’ a concept borrowed from the poet Amiri Baraka. She describes how her practice renders the human figure ambiguous and polymorphous, seeking “to dismantle assumptions of our fixed subjectivity through images that challenge the viewer to contend with the disorganized body in a state of excess.” Quarles’ introspective painting practice draws on Marlene Dumas, Leonora Carrington, Jack Whitten, David Hockney, and Philip Guston. Quarles was a 2016 participant at the Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture and was the inaugural recipient of the 2019 Pérez Art Museum Miami Prize. Her first major solo exhibition, Christina Quarles: In 24 Days tha Sun’ll Set at 7pm, ran from September to October 2022 at Hauser & Wirth, New York.

Translating the world around him into graphic line and colour, he confounds expectations of scale and vantage point. Rooted in the everyday, Wood describes how “You could call [my work] a visual diary […] Of all of the possible things I could paint, the thing that interests me is something that I can get close enough to in order to paint it honestly.” Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Wood grew up surrounded by the art collection of his grandfather, featuring the work of artists such as Francis Bacon, Alexander Calder, Jim Dine, Robert Motherwell, Larry Rivers, and Andy Warhol. In 2010, Wood had his first solo museum exhibition at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
