Anish Kapoor

Sir Anish Kapoor CBE RA (b. India, 1954) is one of the most influential artists working today. Established in London since the early 1970s, Kapoor studied first at the Hornsey College of Art and later at the Chelsea School of Art and Design, both UK. Winner of the 1991 Turner Prize, Kapoor’s work is now to be found worldwide in galleries and public spaces, a notable example being stainless-steel Cloud Gate (2006) (otherwise known as “The Bean”) in Chicago. In 2013 Kapoor received a knighthood for services to the visual arts. The year 2019 saw a major solo exhibition in Beijing, China, across two sites: CAFA Art Museum and the Imperial Ancestral Temple. 2020 sees a major exhibition of Kapoor’s sculptures in the grounds of Houghton Hall, UK, and the first virtual reality artwork by the artist at Waddesdon Manor, UK.
