Watch the making of our new edition with Harland Miller, ‘Narcissist Seeks Similar’. Each print from the edition of 50 is painstakingly created through multiple layers of etching and relief printing with each penguin hand-finished by the print studio. Longer version available to watch on our website for those of you who enjoy watching the process as much as we do!

About this edition, Miller says, “This title came from a series called ‘Circling the Small Ads’….these were quite literally small ads usually placed in local newspapers by people looking for some form, (often a very specific form), of companionship. My eye was always drawn to the way they were composed, with the seeker - whoever they may be - describing themselves in two or three carefully considered words, underneath which - centred and occupying its own line - was the word ‘Seeks’, and then of course below that was a brief description of what, or whom, they were seeking.”

💥💥💥We are delighted to announce our new edition by artist and writer, Harland Miller, ‘Narcissist Seeks Similar’.

This edition has been two years in the making and is inspired by a recent painting from Miller’s ‘Penguin’ series, first exhibited at the artist’s largest solo exhibition to date in his hometown of York, UK, 2020.

Miller describes, “This kind of cerise pink I used (which according to Penguin’s colour-key, denoted the series on travel and adventure) is a colour that elicits a really strong response - it’s very immediate - like some primal flame being turned up inside. The colour itself was important because the narcissist had to be about desire - right, and of course that had to be special, and this is a ‘Penguin Special’ - the only one of its kind.”

‘Narcissist Seeks Similar’ has been created through multiple layers of etching and relief printing, with each penguin hand-finished by the print studio. Limited edition of 50, sheet size 102.5 x 68.5 cm (40 3/8 x 27 in), signed by the artist on the front and numbered on the reverse. Published by Manifold Editions, 2021.

These latest works are adorned with gestural overpainting by Quinn, symbolising a connection with magnetic waves of energy, known as the Van Allen belt, that surround the Earth. The paint encapsulates the energy expended by the painting process.

‘Chorus Wave’ and ‘Solar Storms’ are the latest in Marc Quinn’s ongoing Iris series, which stems from Ortelius’ classical idea that “geography is the eye of history.” These latest works are adorned with gestural overpainting by Quinn, symbolising a connection with the magnetic waves of energy, known as the Van Allen radiation belt, that surround the Earth. Quinn believes that paint, in this abstracted form, echoes the energy of the Van Allen belt; the very existence of that energy holds the potential to become or create anything.
