Sarah Morris

Sarah Morris (b. London, 1967) lives and works in New York. Known for her work exploring the architectural and psychological aspects of cities, she depicts her research through the media of film and geometric abstract painting. Morris’s trenchant documentary films include Los Angeles (2005), Beijing (2008) and Rio (2012), each of which subsequently inspired a series of hard-edge abstracts, often on a large scale, created using household gloss paint. Morris has achieved international prominence with recent exhibitions at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing (2018), Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2016) and Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (2014).
