Adam Pendleton

Adam Pendleton (b. 1984) is an American conceptual artist known for his interdisciplinary practice, involving painting, silkscreen, collage, publishing, video, performance, and word art. He is particularly interested in addressing the complexity of blackness and race through material and theoretical perspectives and has coordinated a variety of practices under the term ‘Black Dada,’ a concept borrowed from the poet Amiri Baraka. His art has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney and the New Museum, New York, and other shows internationally, including La Triennale at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. A major floor-to-ceiling installation of his work, Adam Pendleton: Who Is Queen?, was displayed at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, from 2021-22.
