From a series of four layered archival pigment prints

Home / glossary / From a series of four layered archival pigment prints

A print process in which a sophisticated inkjet printer is used to print an image, using fine-grained pigment inks (rather than dye). Piezoelectric technology forces ink through microscopic holes. The ink droplets are then electrostatically steered onto the surface of the paper. The result is a high-quality, high-definition archival print. For this particular print, layers of colour are developed by the artist using Adobe Photoshop before being printed to create abstracted blends of pigment.
