Gavin Turk’s new unique works, Velo Love, exist in a sea of references, including Marcel Duchamp’s Readymade sculpture Bicycle Wheel. Overlaying wheels and spokes on his Revolving Love prints, Turk explores the kinetic energy of the bicycle and its significance as a conceptual art object. The piece has a rotational logic that almost invites the viewer to watch the wheels turn. Letters rotate and pulsate as the complimentary colours oscillate, spinning ‘LOVE’ into ‘VELO’.
