The dark entrance to the underpass, with its graffiti, seems threatening at first glance, but the reward for braving its menace may be to discover something new, if only about oneself. This enigmatic portal lies in a ribbon of woodland forming a haunted edgescape, visited and revisited by the artist over 30 years, between the modernist 1960s Tile Hill estate in Coventry where he grew up and the rural Warwickshire countryside which stretches beyond.
